Positive Ion Control (PIC) is based on the fact that the metal components of a boat in contact with water, such as the motor, and downrigger cable create a steady, but unpredictable electrical charge in water. The strength and type of charge varies greatly depending on the different types of metals contacting the water, and the mineral content or conductivity of the water.

Since fish are attracted by a slight positive charge and repelled by a strong positive or a negative charge, generating and controlling the correct charge can be critical to the success of your fishing.
Only Cannon electric downriggers send a slight constant positive charge down the cable to attract fish to your bait.

Cannon's Adjustable Positive Ion Control not only creates a constant positive electrical charge along the cable of a Mag 20 and Digi-Troll IV downrigger, it lets you adjust the strength of the charge to attract the species of fish you're after.

Auto Up / Short Stop

You're out trolling on a perfect day, when suddenly... Arnold Schwartzasalmon decides to use your bait for a tooth pick! You gotta get the downrigger out of the way, NOW!

A quick touch on the Auto-Up pad, and the weight rockets toward the surface at up to two hundred and thirty-five feet per minute.

As the weight nears the top of the water, Soft-Stop automatically slows the retrieve rate to prevent stress on the cable. Then just before the weight breaks surface, Short-Stop automatically stops the rigger, leaving the weight safely below the surface to prevent free swinging.
Auto Up / Short Stop has done its job in a little over fifteen seconds.

Bottom Track
Cannon's exclusive Bottom Tracking feature takes controlled depth fishing to a whole new level. With its ability to automatically adjust the downrigger weight to follow bottom contour no matter where the bottom goes, the Digi-Troll IV will track it within a distance you set, at all times—even if the depth changes by a little as one foot. The unit can be set to allow for up to fifty feet of blow-back for accurate bottom tracking in virtually all trolling conditions.
