Ever since Interphase Technologies introduced the Twinscope forward-looking
sonar, boaters worldwide have been asking for the added performance of a
high-resolution, sunlight viewable TFT color display. Now, just in time for the
2004 boating season, we are proud to announce these features and much more in
the all new Color Twinscope.
The new Color Twinscope is more than just a color LCD version of the popular
Twinscope unit. While it retains the important features of the original
Twinscope, it offers a new design and many added features that make it even more
useful for navigation and fishing.
For starters, there's a completely new panoramic color display with a
16:1 aspect ratio adapted from wide-screen TVs and computer monitors.
This format allows for improved presentation of split-screen displays, such as
when viewing sonar/digital data or traditional depthsounder display with
forward-looking sonar simultaneously. With colors directly related to target
strength, this display will make target identification easier than ever, whether
you're navigating a tricky reef or pinpointing a school of gamefish ahead of the
boat.
The Color Twinscope operates like underwater sonic radar, scanning a moving
beam over a 90-degree arc either vertically or horizontally ahead of the boat.
In the Forward Vertical scanning mode, this gives the navigator an underwater
sonar image of what's ahead from just under the surface to directly below the
boat. In the Forward Horizontal scanning mode, the Color Twinscope
electronically steers a searchlight-like beam from port to starboard across the
bow, picking up targets in the 12-degree beam.
Split screen display (Night View)- Forward Horizontal scan on right showing a
channel 30 degrees right of bow, approximently 40 feet ahead. The left side of
the screen shows a conventional depth sounder view.
Split screen data display (Normal View)- Forward Horizontal scan on right and
a digital display showing current depth, speed and temperature on left.
